Borgo di Querceto, landscapes and mountains of the Val di Cecina
Scenic excursion to explore the territory surrounding the historic castle, a distance of 40 km from San Vincenzo, with the option to return via the route Canneto - Monteverdi Marittimo - Castagneto Carducci - San Vincenzo.
This is a fortress originally associated with the Bishops of Volterra and for centuries has been the property of the Ginori-Lisci family, a genuine strategic stronghold straddling the valleys of Cecina, Sterza and Trossa at the foot of Monte Aneo in the municipality of Montecatini Val di Cecina in the province of Pisa.
A varied and exciting path retracing the fascinating local landscape, with spectacular outcrops of green rock, including one that is very curious in the shape of an animal. The path continues towards the pyramid-shaped Monte Aneo, crossing rocky and steep trails that will gift you with a unique panorama.
The tour must conclude in the historic streets of the beautiful village of Querceto, not missing a visit to the local prestigious Enoteca, where those who wish can purchase, among other things, a selection of organic wines and, why not, a snack.

Curiosities
The Castle of Querceto
At the centre of the village stands the castle, a fine architectural work that has undergone numerous renovations over the centuries, starting from 1907, as a plaque attests, to maintain its original shapes.
The Pieve of San Giovanni Battista
Originally, the building was located outside Querceto: in the 12th century, La Pieve was moved inside the village. It was built as a single nave of remarkable artistic value, featuring frescoes and decorations, including those representing the symbols of the evangelists John and Luke gazing at the figure of the Christ Child. The restoration works that have taken place over time have restored its original medieval character, giving this place of worship a profound historical and spiritual significance.
